The November 10 episode of WWE RAW saw WWE confirming Cody Rhodes will be part of the WarGames match at Survivor Series, but Roman Reigns wasn’t mentioned. As it turns out, there might be a genuine reason for that.
While speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro reported on the situation after fans started questioning why Cody Rhodes was announced for the Survivor Series WarGames team, but Roman Reigns was not mentioned at all.
It was noted that some people in WWE believe that someone involved does not want Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns appearing on-screen together unless WWE plans to build toward another match between them.
The idea is that if they share screen time, it would naturally make fans want to see a rematch, so WWE shouldn’t tease it unless they are actually going to deliver it.
“There are people within WWE that believe that somebody involved does not want Roman and Cody to be on the same screen unless they can tease a match that they’re going to deliver on. What does that mean? There is like either I can’t be on-screen with Cody or Cody can’t be on-screen with me. I said someone there is saying either, “I can’t be on-screen with Cody,” or vice versa, “I can’t be on-screen with Roman unless we get this match going.”
There is a concern that putting Cody and Roman together without having a match scheduled would hurt interest and possibly frustrate fans. As of right now, a Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns match is not planned, and there are still several hurdles that make that match uncertain.
“There is just some concern there about that — about the idea of, do you really want to put them on screen, make the fans want to see that match again, and then we can’t do the match? And right now, Cody and Roman is not scheduled. There’s a lot of hurdles there.”
So far CM Punk, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes have been confirmed for the Survivor Series WarGames as they are set to face off against the Vision this month.
WWE understands how big the rivalry is between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. They don’t want to waste the rematch by doing it at the wrong time. Whether it happens at WrestleMania, SummerSlam, or another major event, WWE wants to make sure the moment feels huge and important. So we’ll have to see when it will happen in the end.
Do you agree with WWE keeping Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns apart until another match is ready? Should the rematch happen sooner rather than later? Sound off in the comments.
