Gail Kim has once again gotten involved in drama related to AEW, as she has now responded to accusations that she is obsessed with AEW President Tony Khan.
It all started when Gail Kim commented on Twitter that wrestling companies in general often exaggerate their attendance numbers, in response to TNA Bound for Glory’s attendance being lower than what had originally been announced.
“😂😂 to be fair, I believe all companies across the board exaggerate their numbers … ALLLL the time!”
A fan replied and challenged her to prove it. Sean Ross Sapp stated that this has already been proven many times through turnstile counts. I responded, Gail stated that the fan wouldn’t believe anything unless Tony Khan said it, so the discussion should end there.
“He won’t believe anything unless Tony tells him …. Let’s stop :)”
Another fan accused Gail of being obsessed with Tony Khan and told her to get some help, saying, “Gail, you’re obsessed with Tony. Full stop. As the greatest basketball player of all time, once said, “Stop it, get help.”
In response, Gail explained that she isn’t obsessed at all. She said people bring up Tony or AEW and she simply replies, and then people claim she’s obsessed. Gail added that she’s actually had only positive interactions with Tony Khan and thinks he is very nice. She said it’s more that some fans of the company are the ones who are obsessed.
“I’m actually not. People do bring this up and I reply. Then I’m “obsessed”. I actually have had only pleasant and positive experiences with Tony. Not that many, but I he’s very nice. More like the company’s diehards are more obsessed.”
Gail Kim is no stranger to drama involving AEW, as she got a ton of backlash for her comments about AEW star Riho earlier this year.
Gail Kim’s tweets show a common trend in wrestling talk today: it’s often the fans, not the wrestlers, who turn small comments into big arguments. Gail made it clear she respects Tony Khan and AEW, but she also won’t stay quiet when fans try to twist her words or push unfair stories about her, and that’s never going to change.
Do you think Gail Kim is being unfairly targeted by fans, or is she addressing AEW topics too often? Share your thoughts below — we’d love to hear your perspective.
