The Grace College women’s basketball team has been scoring with ease this season, but the Lancers took it to a record level on Tuesday night, Nov. 11.
The Grace program set a women’s college basketball record for points in a game in its 172-91 win over Ohio Christian. Two teams — Grambling (NCAA) in 2024 and Oklahoma Baptist (NAIA) in 1995 — scored 159 points.

The Lancers passed their previous record for points in a game (118) before the end of the third quarter. They made 58.1% of their shots from the field and just 26.3% (10 of 38) of their 3-pointers, but they forced 42 Ohio Christian turnovers and made 40 of 44 free throws.
Maddy Poynter (Lapel High School) led Grace with 34 points, Becca Gerdt (Valparaiso) had 28, and Emma Sperry (Frankton) and Abbie Ritzema (Illiana Christian) had 21 each. Poynter set the Grace women’s basketball record for free throws made, going 17 for 17.
Grace (4-1) scored 83, 98, 109 and 112 earlier this season.
