Notre Dame basketball’s Hannah Hidalgo sets steals record against Akron

Akron basketball is on the wrong side of history.

In a game against the Zips on Wednesday, Nov. 11, Notre Dame guard Hanah Hidalgo set an NCAA record with 16 steals.

Hidalgo, a preseason All-American, also scored 44 points in the 85-58 win for the Irish.

The previous record for steals in a college basketball game was 14.

In the game, Akron had 38 turnovers, including 30 steals against them.

The loss dropped the Zips to 0-3 on the season. They next play Cleveland State on Nov. 16. The game is available on ESPN+.
