BUIES CREEK — Campbell University’s women’s basketball team earned its first win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating Virginia-Lynchburg, 88-23, in Gore Arena.
The 65-point win marks the seventh largest win at home in program history, and largest since a pair of 71-point wins in 2023.

The Camels (1-2) used stifling defense throughout the contest, holding the Dragons (0-2) to just seven first-half points and zero points in the second quarter.
The feat marks the first time since at least 2009 the Camels held an opponent scoreless in any quarter.
In the same frame, the Camels scored 28 points, helping CU create a 34-0 scoring run to create the initial separation.
Ciara Alexander led the Camels with her third career double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds). The Camels outrebounded the Dragons, 64-29.
Eleven Camels saw the court in the game, with each recording at least three points. Jasmine Nivar, Jasmine Felton and Emerson Thompson joined Alexander in double figures.

Nivar paced CU from distance, making three of her six three-point attempts. Felton, Thompson and Hadleigh Dill also made multiple three-pointers.
Ashleigh Battle recorded nine assists in her first game in Buies Creek, while Olivia Tucker added a career-high four helpers.
The Camels recorded 14 steals, 45 points off turnovers and 23 fastbreak points. Nivar and Thompson each had three steals.
The Camels host their second straight game at home, as they play Western Carolina Wednesday at 7 p.m. The action will be streamed live on FloCollege.
