No. 3 Texas A&M (9-0, 6-0 SEC) returns to Kyle Field for the first time in over a month to host struggling South Carolina (3-6, 1-6 SEC) for an early 11:00 a.m. kickoff on Saturday afternoon. This week, the focus for Mike Elko and his undefeated team isn’t on the recent CFP rankings, as last season’s embarrassing 44-20 loss to the Gamecocks on the road has yet to fade away.
Defensively, Texas A&M’s D-line, which has produced 34 sacks, tied with the Texas Longhorns for the most nationally, has another chance to feast on South Carolina’s offensive line, which has already surrendered 33 sacks, placing quarterback LaNorris Sellers in a bind for most of the season. However, Sellers’ ability to make plays with his legs was a major issue during last season’s game.

After giving up over 200 yards rushing against Missouri, Texas A&M’s run defense, especially star linebacker Taurean York, will need to make tackles in space and wrap up Sellers instead of hitting the 6’3″, 240-pound quarterback, who possesses an obvious size advantage in the open field.
Texas A&M star quarterback Marcel Reed, who has been playing at a Heisman-level through all nine wins, should have enough time in the pocket to shred the Gamecocks’ respectable but susceptible secondary, while the Aggie run game, now led by sophomore Rueben Owens, will be facing one of the weaker run defenses in the SEC.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Saturday’s return to Kyle Field will be a “Maroon-Out,” which will be easy for the Aggie fans heading to the game to wear their traditional Texas A&M colors, and the Aggies will don a classic, but fresh maroon helmet, jersey, and pants against the Gamecocks.
