Lisa Bluder impresses in Iowa women’s basketball TV broadcasting debut

by

Iowa women’s basketball put on a show on Thursday night, rolling past in-state foe Drake, 100-58. The Hawkeyes saw six players finish as double-figure scorers and shot 53.9% as a team.

Defensively, Iowa frustrated Drake into 23 turnovers as the Hawkeyes improved to 3-0. But, it wasn’t just the Hawkeyes on the floor that impressed.

Legendary Iowa women’s basketball coach Lisa Bluder made quite the impression, too. In her TV broadcasting debut, Bluder looked and sounded like a seasoned broadcasting veteran. It was a ton of fun listening to the Big Ten’s and Iowa’s all-time winningest head coach diagnose the action in real-time.

Plus, with Bluder’s intimate knowledge of both programs, there really was nobody better to sit along play-by-play voice Mike Hall on the Big Ten Network’s broadcast. News broke in early October that Bluder would be joining the Big Ten Network, and, after a debut like this, the network will have to think about giving her more color commentary assignments.

The viewers agree that Bluder’s broadcasting debut was a hit.
