GAMEDAY CENTRAL: Time, channel, things to know for New Mexico vs. NMSU basketball games

It’s rivalry time at the Pan American Center.

New Mexico State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will face New Mexico at the Pan American Center on Saturday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 16, respectively. Both of the Aggies’ teams will play the Lobos just once each after the men’s team faced them once and the women’s team faced them twice last season.

Both of NM State’s teams are coming off home wins against New Mexico Highlands this past Tuesday, with the men winning 74-58 and the women winning 78-61. The men have yet to lose this season at 2-0, while the women are 1-1.

The Aggies are looking for the same results as last season. Their men’s team took down UNM 89-83 in overtime last season in Albuquerque and their women’s team swept the two-game series, defeating the Lobos 81-71 in Albuquerque and 68-60 in Las Cruces.

Men’s basketball

New Mexico (3-0) at New Mexico State (2-0)

Time: Nov. 15, 7 p.m.

Location: Pan American Center, Las Cruces, NM

Network: ESPN+

Radio: 99.5 FM KXPZ

Spanish Radio: 96.7 FM La Equis

Things to know

  • All 14 of New Mexico’s players are new to the team this season. The Lobos also have a first-year coach in Eric Olen, who was hired after leading UC San Diego from 2013-25.

  • This is the first Division I team that the Aggies will face this season and just one of their two non-conference home games against a D-I team. NM State will also play Samford at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, in Las Cruces.

  • NM State forward Julius Mims looks on track to play against the Lobos after sitting out against New Mexico Highlands. He suffered a concussion in the Aggies’ season opener against Adams State on Nov. 4 and cleared concussion protocol before the Highlands game, but a doctor didn’t clear him to play.

Women’s basketball

NM State’s women’s basketball games are not available on radio.

Time: Nov. 16, 2 p.m.

Location: Pan American Center, Las Cruces, NM

Network: ESPN+

  • This is the Lobos’ 10th season under coach Mike Bradbury. He is 183-103 during his tenure with UNM.

  • Like their men’s team, this game constitutes the first of just two home non-conference home games against a D-I opponent for the Aggies’ women’s team. NM State will also play UC Irvine at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

  • Aggies forward Lucía Yenes will try to score more than 20 points in three straight games after doing so against USC and New Mexico Highlands to begin the season.
