Nicolas Girard, the new outdoor world champion, shot the first perfect score of the international indoor season with a 600 in the last qualifying session at the 2025 GT Open in Strassen, Luxembourg on Saturday 15 November.
Girard, who was profiled by World Archery after his win in Gwangju, took a bronze in Strassen last year, and finished second in the Vegas Shoot in 2025.
He was two ahead of Mathias Fullerton and Braden Gellenthien on the men’s list with 598 apiece, despite the latter being officially retired from international competition.
The women’s compound list was headed by Elisa Roner of Italy, twice an Indoor World Series champion and no stranger to an indoor podium. Roner was also a bronze medallist in Strassen last year.
The top-32 in each category will advance to matchplay with everyone else allowed to participate in a second-chance contest the next day; with the cut-off score for men’s compound at 588.
In recurve, last year’s winner Lim Duna placed second in qualification behind Elia Canales, with Olympian Roy Dror topping the men’s list.
The competition continues with individual eliminations down to the last eights on Saturday afternoon and evening.
