Who is Gideon Ituka? Wisconsin Badgers running back carted off against Indiana football

The Indiana football game against Wisconsin on Saturday had a delay in the third quarter due to an injury to Badgers running back Gideon Ituka.

Ituka took a hit in the backfield from Stephen Daley, then on a second effort after no whistle was hit hard by Daniel Ndukwe to the point he fell backwards and laid motionless. Wisconsin athletic trainers signaled for additional medical help and a cart was brought out.

Players on both teams took a knee, and Big Ten Network analyst Jake Butt said the Hoosiers huddled in prayer.

Gideon Ituka had two thumbs up while being carted off, laid flat on his back.

Ituka was loaded into an ambulance and as it pulled away turned in the direction of IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Who is Gideon Ituka? Wisconsin Badgers football running back

The Badgers were onto their fourth running back this season in Gideon Ituka. He is a redshirt freshman who was a three-star recruit out of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He appeared in every game this season for the Badgers as a 5-foot-9, 227-pound back.

He entered the game with 223 yards rushing on 51 carries, most of that workload the previous two weeks against Oregon (21 for 85 yards) and Washington (19 for 73). Today, he had nine carries for 32 yards.
