No. 9 Notre Dame took care of business at No. 23 Pittsburgh, winning 37-15 on Saturday afternoon.

These are the five stars for the Fighting Irish from the big win — Notre Dame keeps its playoff chances alive.

5 ⭐️ – Malachi Fields

The transfer from Virginia had a heck of a day, with seven catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns, plus a long of 35 yards.

Some of his catches were so acrobatic, they have to be seen to be believed.

4 ⭐️ – Jeremiyah Love

Notre Dame’s all-everything running back had a quiet day by his standards, with 23 carries for 147 yards, including a long of 56 that resulted in his only touchdown. He also had two catches for 20 yards, with a long of 15.

But his touchdown run got Notre Dame rolling, and Love also moved the chains frequently. It’s a more impactful performance than the numbers, which are more than respectable, would suggest.

3 ⭐️ – Eli Raridon

The tight end had six catches for 67 yards with a long of 28. Many of his catches were impactful plays that kept drives alive and/or set up bigger and better things.

2 ⭐️ – Adon Shuler/Tae Johnson/Bryce Young

Shuler had a sack and returned a two-point conversion from one end zone to another. Tae Johnson had a pick-six. Bryce Young batted passes down. These players seemed to be all over the place — especially Shuler.

1 ⭐️ – The rest of the Notre Dame defense

The same unit that was much-maligned early in the season was stout against Pitt. The Panthers never got their ground game going, and Pitt quarterback Mason Heintschel was in trouble all day long. Notre Dame’s defense gave up few explosive plays and kept Pitt off the scoreboard early as the offense moved the ball but struggled to finish drives. The only flaw was a tendency to get flagged — especially after the game was otherwise out of hand — though some calls were questionable.
