They are off to an historic start. Since the start of the 2020s, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have risen to become the premier forces in men’s tennis.
In September in New York, Sinner and Alcaraz became the first pair to ever contest three Grand Slam finals in the same year in Open Era history.
On Sunday November 16th in Turin, they will meet for the 16th time, for the title at the Nitto ATP Finals.
Here’s a recap of all of their meetings since their first head-to-head matchup, in Paris in 2021.
Alcaraz, after the 2025 US Open final, leads the rivalry 10-5. Alcaraz, after the 2025 US Open final, has won five of the pair’s seven finals. Alcaraz has won four of six of the pair’s Grand Slam meetings.

1. Paris, 2021: Alcaraz d. Sinner 7-6(1), 7-5
The first meeting goes to the Spaniard.
2. Wimbledon, 2022: Sinner d. Alcaraz 6-1, 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3
Sinner takes the pair’s first meeting at a major, winning the round of 16 encounter in four sets.
3. Umag, 2022: Sinner d. Alcaraz 6-7(6), 6-1 6-1
In the pair’s first final, Sinner gets the win from a set down, winning the clay-court final decisively.
4. US Open, 2022: Alcaraz d. Sinner, 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-7(0), 7-5, 6-3
Their first instaclassic! Alcaraz saved a match point to win this epic quarterfinal, and goes on to win his first major title.
5. Indian Wells, 2023: Alcaraz d. Sinner 7-6(4), 6-3
Not quite a classic, but this intense battle had its moments.
6. Miami, 2023: Sinner d. Alcaraz, 6-7(4), 6-4 6-2
Sinner snaps a two-match losing streak to gain revenge for the Indian Wells loss, winning this hard-fought semi from a set down.
7. Beijing, 2023: Sinner d. Alcaraz, 7-6(4), 6-1
Sinner starts his own streak with a commanding performance in the Beijing semis against his rival.
8. Indian Wells, 2024 Alcaraz d. Sinner, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2
Alcaraz gets his first win from a set down against Sinner, and maintains his dominance over the Italian at Indian Wells, where he goes on to successfully defend his title.
9. Roland-Garros, 2024: Alcaraz d. Sinner, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3
In their first meeting on the terre battue of Paris, Alcaraz wins a lengthy battle, coming back from two sets to one down. He goes on to win his first French Open title, defeating Zverev in a five-set final.
10. Beijing, 2024: Alcaraz d. Sinner, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3)
That’s three in a row for the Spaniard, the first three-match win streak in the rivalries’ history.
11. Rome, 2025: Alcaraz d. Sinner 7-6(5), 6-1
Alcaraz improves to 2-1 against Sinner on clay, winning their first Masters final in straight sets.
12. Roland-Garros, 2025: Alcaraz d. Sinner, 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2).
Their best match to date is an epic in the Roland-Garros final, with Alcaraz saving three championship points as he rallies to win his fifth major title. It goes down as one of the best matches of the 21st century. Alcaraz takes his winning streak to five against Sinner.
13. Wimbledon, 2025: Sinner d. Alcaraz, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4
Sinner turns the tide on his rival and denies Alcaraz a Wimbledon three-peat. The triumph gives Sinner his first Wimbledon title and fourth major title overall. It also snaps a five-match losing streak in the rivalry.
14. Cincinnati, 2025: Alcaraz d. Sinner, 5-0 RET
The Italian took the court under the weather, and could only hang in for five games before pulling the retirement, making the fourteenth edition the shortest – and most unsatisfying – in the rivalrie’s history.
15. US Open, 2025: Alcaraz d. Sinner, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4
Sinner looked to be turning things around when he won the second set, but Alcaraz turned up the steam and pulled away to win easily in four, making it seven wins in the pair’s last eight meetings.
Alcaraz hit all the high notes and kept his rival at bay across the pair’s 15th career meeting and third consecutive Grand Slam final, locking up his triumph in two hours, 42 minutes. For his efforts, Alcaraz returned to the No. 1 ranking on Monday, ending Sinner’s 65-week reign at the top.
