Angel Reese’s WNBA Offseason Update Draws Attention on Sunday

by

Chicago Sky superstar Angel Reese continued her development into one of the WNBA’s best forwards in 2025. She led the league in rebounding for the second straight season, averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game on the way to another All-Star nod.

Reese’s individual numbers improved on both ends of the floor from her rookie season in 2024, but she was only able to play 30-of-44 games due to injury. Chicago struggled to a 10-34 record under first-year coach Tyler Marsh, leaving Reese without a WNBA playoff appearance in her first two professional seasons out of LSU.

She had more success in Unrivaled from January to March. She won the 3-on-3 league’s inaugural championship with Rose BC and was named Defensive Player of the Year.

It was a curious development at the start of the current offseason when Unrivaled announced its 2026 rosters — which include two more teams and 12 more players than last year — and the Chicago Sky star was not on the list as a returnee.

At the time of publishing, Reese has not officially announced any plans to play for another professional basketball team this offseason, putting her in a rare group with the likes of Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson with a potential WNBA lockout looming. The only clue Reese has given about the offseason is when she said her goal was “Quietly minding my business.”

But a social media post out of the blue on Sunday suggested that big news may be on the way — and it got plenty of people’s attention. In response to a fan on X who posted about missing watching Reese play basketball, the Sky star responded “SOON” with a winking emoji.

“What do you mean by this sister????” said a popular reply.

“girl dont play with our emotions,” begged one response.

“WHAT DOES THIS MEAN MOTHER,” screamed an X user.

“HOW SOON REESE???” asked another.

Reese has shared a few clips on social media of herself training in the gym, showing that she is hungry to get back to game action. On Oct. 29, she posted “ugh i miss hoops!” on X.

While her post on Sunday stoked some vague excitement, it left fans with more questions than answers as Angel Reese’s basketball plans remain unknown this offseason.
