In the first half, Oregon’s defense forced 11 turnovers from the Black Knights, resulting in 14 points off turnovers. Mia Jacobs and Katie Fiso accounted for 18 of Oregon’s 35 points in the first half.

With Mevius out, it has been up to Fiso to be the primary point guard, and so far she is rising to the occasion.

Army pulled to within seven points in the second quarter, 32-25, but were immediately driven back to a double-digit deficit with the first of Sofia Bell’s four three-pointers of the game.

There they would stay, as the Black Knights had no answers for Oregon’s size. Army could not keep the Ducks from scoring in the paint, as Oregon put up 42 points inside.

Army finished with 44.2 % scoring and went 2-5 from the free throw line. Kya Smith was the lone Knight to score double digits with 20 points.

The Ducks had five players who scored in the double digits, led by Mia Jacobs with 17. Sofia Bell and Amina Muhammad each had 14 points, and Katie Fiso and Sarah Rambus had 12.

Oregon shot 56% from the field, and was outstanding at the FT line, going a perfect 11-11.

Fans had a surprise during the halftime show, with a mystery shooter dropping in shot after shot, making you think “I wish she played for the Ducks…”

Here is what coach Kelly Graves had to say about yesterday’s game:

Sofia Bell and Amina Muhammed offered these postgame comments.

Oregon’s competition steps up a bit this weekend as they hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Pullman for a Wednesday night match against Washington State. Then they will come back to Eugene to host Utah State on Sunday.
