The WNBA CBA negotiations have entered its first extension amid the controversy it has generated so far this year. Now, A’ja Wilson has given an insight into how the discussions are going behind the scenes between the players and the league.

During the interview, Wilson was asked about the state of things in the current CBA discussions between the WNBA and the players’ union.

In response, A’ja Wilson stated that their collective demands for better wages and equity hasn’t changed and they will stand on it.

“Obviously, we’re still pushing through,” Wilson said. “But I think for us, it’s just continue to stand on what we believe in and what it is to be a business and how we handle ourselves.

“And I think when you’re thinking about a united front, it’s the WNBA. We’re not going to shake anything until we get what we want.”

The 2025 League and Finals MVP further stated they are also trying to make things better for players who will play in the WNBA years later.

“I think we are tired of the mindset of just be grateful for what you have. No, we need to dive into it,” she said. “And it’s not just for the women of the league now.

“We’re talking about the women coming up, the future. We want them to have a safe space where they can perform at a high level and get that revenue share and to live on a salary that is what they’ve earned, that’s liveable,” Wilson added.

Now, with the deadline for this extension fast approaching, it remains to be seen if a positive solution that benefits both parties will be agreed in time.
