Jannik Sinner didn't really want to compare his 2024 and 2025 seasons, but declared this year "amazing" and stated that he improved as a player.
In 2024, Sinner elevated his game to a new level and won his first two Grand Slam titles. Overall, the Italian tennis star won eight titles during the 2024 season and finished the year with an impressive 73-6 record.
This year, Sinner's dominance continued as he won a total of six titles – including two Grand Slam trophies – and went 57-6. Of those six losses, four came against his biggest rival – Carlos Alcaraz. But on Sunday, the world No. 2 got his revenge for the US Open final defeat after beating Alcaraz 7-6 (4) 7-5 to win the ATP Finals for the second year in a row.
If not for a three-month doping ban, Sinner would very likely win more titles this year.
Sinner: I don't want to compare my 2024 and 2025 seasons
"Well, look, honestly I don't want to compare. It's amazing season. Last year has been an amazing season. This year making four Grand Slam finals, coming here, winning here, having this big streak in end of the year, it's amazing. But mostly I feel to be a better player than last year, I think this is the most important. It's all part of the process. I always say and believe that if you keep working and trying to be a better player, the results, they're going to come. This year it was like this," the 24-year-old reflected.
Sinner has won all Grand Slams except the French Open. This year, he came inches away from winning his maiden title at Roland Garros before stunningly blowing a two-set lead and three consecutive championship points against Alcaraz.
If Sinner wins the French Open next year, he will add another outstanding record to his resume and complete a Calendar Grand Slam.
