CLEVELAND — The Guardians added four prospects to their 40-man roster on Tuesday, ahead of the deadline for teams to protect eligible players from the Rule 5 Draft.
Enright was a reliable reliever this past season. He recorded a 2.03 ERA in 31 innings over 27 appearances. His year was cut short after he went on the injured list on Sept. 4 with right elbow/forearm inflammation, which led to Tommy John surgery on Oct. 29.
Enright will miss next season, but the Guardians have interest in re-signing him. He was Cleveland’s 20th-round Draft pick in 2019 and made his MLB debut on May 25, which marked the latest chapter in his story defined by incredible perseverance.
Enright was diagnosed with Stage 2 nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2022, and he has continued to pitch through rounds of immunotherapy treatments.
Genao (the Guardians’ No. 3 prospect and baseball’s No. 59 overall, per MLB Pipeline) spent the bulk of 2025 with Akron, appearing in 77 games for the RubberDucks after he opened the season on the injured list due to a right shoulder strain.
Genao, 21, posted a slash line of .259/.323/.359 for Akron, with 17 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 37 RBIs. All his defensive appearances in 2025 were at shortstop, a change from prior years that saw him get time at second and third base.
Peterson (No. 30 prospect) was Cleveland’s ninth-round Draft pick in 2022. The 26-year-old pitched in 28 games (26 starts) between Akron and Columbus this year and recorded a 3.21 ERA, with 127 strikeouts in 145 2/3 innings. The Guardians promoted him to Columbus on June 13, and he posted a 4.27 ERA over 17 games (15 starts), with 78 strikeouts in 90 2/3 innings.
Gómez, who turned 23 this month, split 2025 between High-A Lake County and Akron. Over 27 games (15 starts), he posted a 2.96 ERA and 139 strikeouts in 121 2/3 innings. After the Guardians promoted him to Akron on July 18, he recorded a 3.15 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings over 10 games (nine starts).
Cleveland signed Gómez as an international free agent out of Venezuela in July 2019.
The Guardians acquired Watson (No. 18 prospect) from the Marlins in the Josh Bell trade on Aug. 1, 2023. Over 102 games between Akron and Columbus in 2025, the 22-year-old slashed .250/.346/.467, with 20 doubles, six triples, 16 homers and 61 RBIs.
This past season was Watson’s first as a primary outfielder. He made 43 starts in center field, 21 in right and 20 in left, plus 15 at designated hitter.
Genao, Watson and Peterson were the lone players on MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 Prospects list for the Guardians who would have been eligible for the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 10 if they were not added to the 40-man roster.
