One week after signing four-star guard Kalek House, Xavier basketball added to its Class of 2026 with the commitment of forward Asher Elson on the final day of the early signing period Nov. 19. Elson announced his decision during a commitment ceremony streamed on his Instagram.
Elson, a 6-foot-10 power forward, had Xavier, Syracuse, Auburn and Maryland as his top 4 schools.

Xavier offered Elson in September, and he was on campus for an official visit in October.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Elson is a four-star power forward and the No. 9 player in Georgia in the Class of 2026. Elson is ranked by Rivals as the No. 114 prospect in his class and a top 20 power forward in the country.
A New York native, Elson averaged 16 points and six rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season at South Shore High School in Brooklyn. He now plays for Cold Hearts of the Atlanta-based Overtime Elite.
So far this season with Cold Hearts, Elson is averaging 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds. He is shooting 54.8% from 2-point range but is just 6-of-26 from beyond the arc.

“His (Elson) work ethic, his commitment to get better, is unmatched,” Cold Hearts head coach Norm Richardson said during Elson’s commitment ceremony.
Elson also held offers from Creighton, Fordham, Illinois, St. John’s and Georgia Tech.
