Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham downplayed speculation surrounding quarterback Sam Leavitt on Wednesday, as reports surfaced that the Sun Devils standout is being actively “shopped” for a larger NIL deal ahead of the January transfer portal window.

Leavitt, who is currently sidelined for the season after a foot injury, is considered “doubtful” to return to the Sun Devils in 2026. The quarterback’s camp, led by his brother, Dallin Leavitt, through CAA has reportedly begun exploring high-end opportunities for the former four-star recruit, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos. While no decision has been finalized, interest is expected to be significant given Leavitt’s production and resume.

Dillingham, whose team remains in the Big 12 title hunt, brushed aside the noise.

“I’m focused on Colorado,” he said. “We came out on fire this week. I don’t listen to the outside noise. It’s November and we’re in the hunt.”

Leavitt entered the season as one of the nation’s top returning quarterbacks, coming off a breakout year in which he led ASU to a Big 12 championship and a College Football Playoff berth. He threw for 2,885 yards, 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions in 2024.

Before his injury this fall, Leavitt completed more than 60 percent of his passes for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also added 10 rushing scores over the past two seasons, further boosting his value in an increasingly aggressive NIL landscape.

Ranked the No. 1 prospect in Oregon in the 2023 class, Leavitt originally committed to Michigan State before transferring to Arizona State.
