Tony Khan Considering Removal of PPV from AEW’s 2026 Schedule

by

Tony Khan has addressed the future of NJPW’s Wrestle Dynasty event, and while another edition isn’t expected in 2026, the AEW President isn’t ruling out its return down the line.

During the AEW Full Gear media call, Khan was asked about the possibility of Wrestle Dynasty coming back next year. He explained that New Japan Pro Wrestling is currently focused on Wrestle Kingdom 20, which has already seen strong momentum in terms of ticket sales and attention. Because of that, Wrestle Dynasty is not expected to take place in 2026.

Despite that, Khan remained open to the idea of the event returning in the future. He praised the success of this year’s Wrestle Dynasty, which featured several landmark moments including Kenny Omega’s return to in-ring competition in a show-stealing bout against Gabe Kidd. Mercedes Moné also began her belt collector journey at the event by defeating Mina Shirakawa for the RPW Undisputed British Women’s Title.

With so many standout performances, the show left a strong impression and fueled interest in it becoming an annual tradition. For now, however, the focus remains on Wrestle Kingdom, and any plans for another Wrestle Dynasty will be revisited further down the road.
