Top-rated 2026 point guard names Tennessee basketball in top five schools

Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2026 basketball signing class.

Five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. named Tennessee in his top five schools, along with Duke, North Carolina State, Miami and Texas, according to Dushawn London of 247Sports.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect is from Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 1 point guard in the class and No. 1 player in New Jersey.

Tennessee offered Rippey Jr. a scholarship on May 22. He officially visited Tennessee on Oct. 25.

St. John’s was the first school to offer Rippey Jr. a scholarship on Jan. 27, 2023. Other Power Five schools to offer him scholarships include Oklahoma State, TCU, Washington, Texas A&M, Syracuse, Illinois, Villanova, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, LSU, Providence, West Virginia, Seton Hall, Purdue, SMU, Kansas, Alabama, North Carolina, Rutgers and Michigan.

Tennessee has three commitments in its 2026 basketball recruiting class: small forward Ralph Scott, power forward Manny Green and point guard Marquis Clark.
