Karl Anderson has finally decided to shut down a recent rumor concerning Andrade and his recent appearance at a Crash Lucha Libre event.
While speaking on the Talk’N Shop podcast, Karl Anderson shut down reports claiming that Andrade left The Crash Lucha Libre event upset or after issues backstage. Anderson explained that he stood next to Andrade throughout the fan signing, noting that both men were greeted by an amazing crowd in Tijuana.
“There were reports that Andrade, the Crash Lucha Libre champion, was there and left in a heap and was angry, and got in trouble and left. I’m here to say that I was there with Andrade, side by side with him, doing the signing, signing with the fans. Lots of incredible fans in Tijuana. I’m telling you, it was so unbelievable to see all the fans. Andrade was right beside me and the Big LG, a friend of mine, someone I’ve known for a long time.
With that said, there were reports that he left and he was angry. Not true. Signing was finished. He went backstage. We went backstage. He watched us win the Tijuana Crash Lucha Libre Tag Team Championships.”
According to Anderson, Andrade stayed for the entire show, watched him and Luke Gallows win the Crash Lucha Libre Tag Team Championships, and even hugged them afterwards.
Anderson stated that Andrade was not angry, did not storm out, and had no problems backstage. He stayed until after the semi–main event, spoke with people, laughed backstage, and left normally. Anderson said the story of Andrade leaving in a bad mood is simply not true.
“He watched the whole show. We left before Andrade left. As soon as our match was finished, which was the semi-main event, my friend Tejano was in the main event. With that said, Andrade did not leave in a heap. He didn’t leave angry. He didn’t leave in trouble. He didn’t leave mad. Nothing. He was there the whole show. He was backstage, laughing with people, talking with people, and even hugged us after we won the Crash Lucha Libre Tag Team Championships.”
This comes after Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Andrade had been scheduled for a meet-and-greet and then left the venue. Meltzer claimed that Andrade’s exit was due to being unhappy with something at the event, though the specific problem wasn’t made clear.
“Andrade, who was booked for The Crash’s XIV Aniversario show, left the event after fulfilling his meet-and-greet obligations. The reason for his abrupt departure was that he was unhappy with something at the show.”
Rumors spread fast in wrestling, but firsthand witnesses remain the best source of truth. Karl Anderson’s comments make it clear that Andrade had no issues backstage, didn’t storm out, and stayed fully involved in the event. Regardless, we’ll have to see what’s next for Andrade as he is currently dealing with a one-year non-compete clause after his WWE departure.
Do you believe eyewitness accounts like Karl Anderson’s should be taken as final word? Or should fans wait for more confirmation when backstage rumors surface? Sound off in the comments.
