On Thursday night, USC men’s basketball defeated Troy 107-106 in triple overtime. UNC Asheville transfer Jordan Marsh capped off an insane game by hitting the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer for the Trojans, who improved to 4-0 on the season with the victory.
USC did not play well and has a lot to clean up under second-year head coach Eric Musselman. The Trojans’ effort and overall performance were spotty and inconsistent. USC struggled to put away a Troy team which played a draining double-overtime game on Tuesday night against San Diego State and should have been leg-weary. USC was fresh and rested against an Alabama-based opponent which was on a long road trip. There’s a lot to be worried about from this game, but Jordan Marsh saved USC from eating a horrific loss which would have immediately put the Trojans in trouble relative to the NCAA Tournament bubble and their overall profile. This was a huge shot for USC in the first weeks of a new season.
