Dawn Staley Names Indiana Fever Star Poised to Become MVP

While Caitlin Clark has garnered most of the attention, the Indiana Fever have a handful of noteworthy young talents on their roster. As a fellow top pick continues to blaze a path for herself, she garnered some high praise from one of the sport’s top coaches.

A year before the Fever landed the Iowa Hawkeyes phenom, they also found themselves with the top pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft. With this selection, they decided to solidify their frontcourt by nabbing Aliyah Boston.

From the moment she stepped foot in the pros, Boston has been an impactful player for Indiana. She kicked off her WNBA career in impressive fashion, being named an All-Star and securing WNBA Rookie of the Year in her first season. Since then, she has been a perennial All-Star and blossomed into a two-way force for the Fever.

With Clark missing the majority of last season due to injury, Boston took on an expanded role for the Fever in 2025. She made the most of this opportunity, filling up the box score on a nightly basis. She ended her third season with averages of 15 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks.

Fresh off another impressive campaign for the Fever, Boston received high praise from her college coach, the South Carolina Gamecocks’ Dawn Staley. She feels the Indiana forward has what it takes to become an MVP-level player in the WNBA.

“I think she’s on her way to being the MVP,” Staley said. “Because she works extremely hard at her craft.”
