The College Football Playoff is right around the corner and the debate still rages on about which conference remains superior.

The Big Ten has built a strong case for itself with the likes of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Indiana Hoosiers, Oregon Ducks, USC Trojans, and Illinois Fighting Illini, amongst the conference’s best.
But, college football analyst Danny Kanell of CBS Sports disagrees.
“I don’t think the Big Ten is as deep as the SEC,” Kanell said. “You know, I think that’s okay.”
While the other panelists argued Kanell’s point, Kanell suggested there was a major flaw in that argument.
“Even in saying that, how does that translate to, how much better do you have to be?” Kanell asked. “Like, does that mean 9-3 is better than 11-1 in the Big Ten or SEC? No. So, I’m okay if there are 10-2 teams over a one-loss team. I just think we sometimes get that gap.”

It’s unclear how wide the gap may get, but what is queer is that both conferences are making their cases as the best in college football by a wide margin.
In a few weeks, that debate may reach a different level based on which SEC and Big Ten teams end up making the playoff and making a deep run in the process.
But much is still to be decided, which is the intrigue of it all.
For now, the games must play out.
