North Decatur played host to South Dearborn Thursday in search for win No. 1 on the young season. The Lady Chargers exploded for 25 first-quarter points en route to knocking off the Lady Knights 51-32.
North moves to 1-4 on the season. South Dearborn drops to 0-6.

A bucket by Leonie Clemente got the Lady Chargers going in the first quarter. After a bucket by Jo Whitaker, Brooklyn White drained her first of a trio of 3-pointers in the quarter. White’s third bomb closed the scoring in the quarter with North leading 25-5. Following White’s nine points in the first eight minutes was Whitaker with eight points, Carmen Thackery four, Clemente two and Libby Crawford two.
Jewel Verseman got the Lady Chargers going in the second quarter with a bucket. White followed with another 3-pointer. Brynlee Green added a bucket, and Verseman closed the North scoring in the half with a free throw. At the half, the Lady Charges led 35-15.
Five Lady Chargers scored in the third quarter, led by Green’s four points. White, Whitaker and Thackery all had two points, and Verseman added a free throw. North extended the lead to 46-25 heading to the fourth quarter.
South Dearborn outscored North 7-5 in the fourth quarter. North got three points from Whitaker and two from Verseman as the Lady Chargers closed out the 51-32 victory.

White led the Lady Chargers with 14 points. Whitaker also scored in double figures with 13 points. Thackery finished with eight points followed by Verseman six, Green six, Clemente two and Crawford two.
North hosts county-rival South Decatur (5-1) Saturday. The 2-quarter junior varsity game tips at 6 p.m.
