Ohio State women’s basketball needs big 4th quarter to beat Belmont

The Ohio State women’s basketball team (4-1) came on strong in the fourth quarter to survive a surprisingly close game with Belmont (3-3) in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship.

The Buckeyes and Bruins were tied 48-48 entering the final frame. Ohio State outscored Belmont 20-8 in the contest’s last 10 minutes, held its opponent to 3-of-17 shooting and won the battle on the boards 16-6 during that span. Ohio State scored the first eight and final seven points of the quarter.

Forward Kylee Kitts was Ohio State’s leading rebounder against Belmont with 15.

Over the course of the game, the Buckeyes forced 19 turnovers but committed 17 of their own. Jaloni Cambridge accounted for 6 of those giveaways. She also scored a team-leading 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting. Kylee Kitts was OSU’s leading rebounder with 15.

Ohio State will next face the winner of the matchup between No. 22 West Virginia and McNeese State at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.
