Angel Reese was one of the few bright spots in what turned out to be another disappointing season for the Chicago Sky. In 2024, the Sky went 13-27 and missed the WNBA playoffs for the first time in six years, despite Reese finishing second in the Rookie of the Year race. This prompted the front office to fire head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, whom Reese considered one of her biggest mentors.
In came new head coach Tyler Marsh, who, unfortunately, didn’t do much better in his first year at the helm. Last season, the Sky posted a 10-34 record, tied with the Dallas Wings for the worst record in the league.

Reese remains Chicago’s cornerstone star. In 2025, the 6-foot-3 forward averaged 14.7 points on 45.8% shooting, a league-best 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 31.6 minutes per contest. The Sky will continue to build around the two-time All-Star, which includes making the necessary coaching moves to potentially tap into Reese’s and the team’s full potential.
On Monday, the Sky took to social media to reveal that they have brought in a fresh face to their coaching staff. This comes in the form of 57-year-old Latricia Trammell, who was an assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks before agreeing to join Marsh’s coaching staff in Chicago.

“Join us in welcoming @coachtrammell to the Sky coaching staff as our new assistant coach! 🩵💛” the team posted on Instagram.
Trammell has extensive experience in the WNBA. She served as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Stars and the Sparks before taking over as head coach of the Dallas Wings in 2023 and 2024. She was a runner-up for Coach of the Year in her first season with the Wings after leading the team to the playoffs. Trammell, a Seminole State College Hall of Famer as a player, also coached at the high school and college levels before coaching in the WNBA.

“Latricia’s three decades of coaching experience and impressive resume make her a thrilling addition to the staff,” Marsh said on Monday. “She’s produced impressive results at every level of her career and will be key in elevating the Sky.”
