Merab Dvalishvili shined when it came time to compete in his biggest grudge match.
At UFC Fight Night 221 in 2023, Dvalishvili fought Petr Yan in his first main event – and the first time he had a really heated build-up with an opponent. Yet, despite all the outside pressures, Dvalishvili showed out, dominating Yan to win a unanimous decision that read 50–45 on all three judges’ scorecards.

Dvalishvili (21-4 MMA, 14-2 UFC) returns to the octagon for a fourth time this year, as he’s set to defend his belt in the main event of UFC 323 on Dec. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He takes on none other than Yan (19-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) in a rematch.
