Aleksandre Topuria met the media Saturday after his win over Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Fight Night 265.
Topuria (7-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) outworked Almakhan (12-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) for a unanimous decision win on the prelims at ABHA Arena in Doha, Qatar. Topuria picked up two 30-27 scores from the judges in the promotion’s debut in Qatar.

“There are no secrets,” Topuria told UFC.com after the fight. “I just believe in myself and have a great team on my back. When you have that combination and work hard – I’m a guy who has some ambition. The ambition is not the fame, not to be recognized, but to put myself in these difficult moments and have these feelings (of victory).”
Topuria, brother of UFC lightweight champion and former featherweight titleholder Ilia Topuria, said he’s starting to get more comfortable as a UFC fighter – and he likes the thought of continuing to rise up the ranks.
“Today is one of those days I understand that it’s very important to keep going toward your dreams – with the dreams of your (teammates) to work hard together,” Topuria said. “Every time, I learn you have to surround yourself with your close people who wish you the best, and you wish them the best.
“I want to keep living this life.”
