Whilst many of our other Black Friday cycling deals might be nice things we’d like to treat ourselves or others to, a good set of waterproof riding trousers feels more of a necessity.

The Endura MT500 range of weatherproof clothing has earned a strong reputation for high-performance, rugged bike clothing. It’s not really surprising, given it’s designed and tested in the unforgiving weather and terrain in Scotland.
So when I set off this autumn for a multi-day bike packing trip across the Highlands, it was an obvious choice to kit myself in some MT500 kit. There are two versions of the MT500 trousers, the Spray and the Burner. The Spray is the all-weather version, rugged and reinforced patches on the seat, knees and other key areas; but with four-way stretch fabric and critical ventilation areas.
I opted for the Spray version as I wanted to be able to wear the trousers in all kinds of weather rather than just the worst of the wet. The full-waterproof and taped Burner version felt like it would be a little too boil-in-the-bag.
The MT500 Spray trousers and incredibly well fitted with zips and Velcro to ensure they’re nicely cinched up where they need to be. The fit was great off the bike as well as on it, meaning I could happily wear them in the pub in the evening of my multi-day trip, or more mundanely walking into the office after my morning commute since I’ve been home.
Given their water-resistance, they can be a bit sweaty riding in warmer weather but given their adaptability this compromise feels well worth it.
