Holger Rune continues to move in the right direction after a severe ankle injury he suffered in Stockholm in October. It was a moment that abruptly ended his 2025 campaign and forced him into surgery.
Now based in Doha for rehab, the young Dane shared the most encouraging update yet – the walker boot is gone, and phase two of his recover is officially underway!
Rune posted a light-hearted but revealing message, calling it a super nerdy post about his ankle progress. He proudly showcased the surgical area now free from support, five and a half weeks after the surgery.
Holger's tone, with smiling emojis and all, signals much more than physical improvement. Rune appears mentally refreshed, committed and relieved to be moving again after the toughest moment of his career.
Earlier in the off-season, the Dane outlined plans for a smarter schedule and renewed focus. This update fits perfectly with the disciplined, structured approach he wants to implement once he returns at some point in 2026.
With the boot off and mobility returning, Holger's comeback road finally feels reel. Even before that, he showcased incredible determination, hitting white sitting with his leg fixed.

Those days are already behind him, and optimism is firmly back on the table. Instead of a strong closure to the season, Rune experienced a devastating Achilles tendon rapture in the semi-final of the Stockholm Open.
He underwent surgery and started a long and demanding road back. Things have been going nicely for the young gun so far, and his fierce determination has made his fans proud.
From a full cast, through a walking boot to no supporter on his troubled left leg, Holger's recovery is unfolding as we would wish. The return date remains months away, but there have been many positive signs, something he fully deserves.
