Giannis Makes Diabolical Claim About Breaking All-Time Scoring Record

by

Giannis Antetokounmpo has made a pretty insane claim about breaking the all-time scoring record after he reached 21,000 career points.

Against the Nets, Giannis scored 29 points and helped to to snap the Bucks seven-game losing streak, while moving into 42nd on the all-time scoring list.

After the game, the Greek Freak was certainly feeling himself and made the extremely bold claim that he will become the NBA’s highest scorer in history very soon.

“I think getting to the top of the scoring list is not six, seven or eight years away,” he said. “I think it’s, in my opinion, I think it’s four years away—four or five years away, four and a half years away. I think when I’m going to be 35 years old and sitting in this chair, want to have a discussion of I am in the top list of all-time in scoring. And, I would have talked that into existence and not just talk that into existence because I believe that I’m going to do it, it’s something that I want to do.”

So let’s analyse that statement for a minute.

It has taken him 13 seasons to score 21,000 points.

If Giannis plays every 82 games for the next 5 years, he’d need to average 53.6 PPG to surpass LeBron at No.1 all-time.

To score another 21,000 points, he would need to average at least 30 points per game over 700 games. Even he did that, he wouldn’t have scored more than LeBron.

Scoring 21,ooo points is no easy feat and in doing so, Giannis became the sixth-youngest player in league history to reach 21,000 points, behind Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James, which only fuels the 2x MVP more.

“First of all, we have to talk about who those guys are because I just saw those guys,” Antetokounmpo said. “I think it’s the GOATs of the GOATs. And I don’t think anybody disagrees in this room. I don’t think anybody in this world disagrees; just to be on that list with them is incredible. Have I accomplished as much as them? I don’t think so. Do I have a lot of room to improve and room to grow in years to keep on writing my own legacy? Yes.”
