Another day, another record setting performance from Audi Crooks. Let’s go ahead and dive into this one.
Recapping Coconut Hoops Tournament
The Cyclones faced their first true test of the season down in Ft. Myers, Florida with the GEICO Coconut Hoops Tournament in the Blue Heron Division with Marquette, Indiana, and Gonzaga. In round one, the Cyclones handled the Marquette Golden Eagles behind a steady stream of scoring from Audi Crooks, Addy Brown, Jada Williams, and Sydney Harris all between 13 and 18 points. The Golden Eagles made the score look better than it was for them with a late 10-0 run, but the Cyclones still took the win, 84-73. Then in their championship game against Indiana, we got a hell of a showing from Audi Crooks as well as Indiana leadings scorer, Shay Ciezki.

Ciezki did all she could to keep the Hoosiers in this one, dropping 38 points on 12 of 21 shooting and another 13 of 14 from the free throw line. Thankfully for the Cyclones, they have their own powerhouse scorer in Audi Crooks who now holds the top two and three of the top four scoring performances in Iowa State history. After already setting the record once this year with 43 against Valparaiso, Crooks came out against a really solid Hoosiers team and broke it again with 47 points on 19 of 25 shooting and an impressive 9 of 11 from the free throw line.
Even beyond what Crooks accomplished on Sunday, the rest of the Cyclone Big 3 had some days of their own. Jada Williams (23 points, 11 assists) and Addy Brown (17 points, 10 rebounds) combined for 40 points and each had double-doubles in the win as the Cyclone offense hit terminal velocity, putting up over 100 points for the 2nd time this season, winning 106-95.
