Even after Iowa State women’s basketball team rolled into the top 10 of last week’s Associated Press rankings, there was still some doubt about just how good the Cyclones were.
Iowa State had cruised through the early part of its schedule by beating up on a bunch of non-power-conference programs and one in-state foe.

But a pair of wins over the weekend validated that ranking for the Cyclones, who remained No. 10 in the latest AP poll released Dec. 1.
Iowa State had previously checked in at No. 10. But that was before a big trip to the Coconut Hoops event in Fort Myers, Fla.

The trip included a pair of wins over marquee opponents Marquette and Indiana. The win over Indiana handed the Hoosiers their first loss of the season.
Cyclones star Audi Crooks poured in a school-record 47 points vs. Indiana, breaking her own mark of 43 set earlier in the season.
Iowa State improved to 9-0 on the season. It’s the best start for the Cyclones since they opened the 2013-14 season with 14 straight wins.
