Chile’s Games at Rugby World Cup 2027

The draw for Rugby World Cup 2027 saw Chile obtaining a satisfactory draw. Los Cóndores will compete in Pool A of the Australia hosted Rugby World Cup. The pool only contains countries from the Pacific but, none are Pacific Island nations.

Pool A will consist of Australia, Hong Kong, Chile, and New Zealand. The teams were determined in that order. As the tournament host nation, Australia was placed in Pool A. Hong Kong was drawn first from Band 4 following by Chile from Band 3 and New Zealand from Band 1.

Rugby World Cup 2027 will be the eleventh edition of the Men’s Rugby World Cup. It will be the second hosted entirely in Australia and the third overall involving matches in the country. Hong Kong will make their Rugby World Cup debut doing so four years after Chile debuted in France 2023.

The matches see history set to be written as Chile has never faced Australia nor New Zealand previously. Chile and Hong Kong have previously played on two occasions. Hong Kong won the inaugural contest 13-6 in 2017 while Hong Kong were 22-17 winners in 2024.
