Drake women’s basketball falls to Lindenwood, drops sixth straight

Drake women’s basketball dropped its contest against Lindenwood, 68-52, on Dec. 3 at the Knapp Center.

The Bulldogs‘ annual Character Counts! Day game, which tipped off at 11 a.m., marked the team’s sixth straight loss following a season-opening win over Eastern Illinois. Drake fell to 1-6 on the year, while Lindenwood improved to 7-2.

The Lions got out to a hot start and never looked back, taking a 15-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. At the halftime break, Drake was down 33-21. After a comeback attempt in the third quarter, where the Bulldogs outscored Lindenwood 23-17, they faltered in the fourth and were outscored 18-8 over the final 10 minutes. Drake did not lead for a single second in the game.

Quinn Vice led Drake in scoring with 12 points and was the only Bulldog to score in double figures. Grace Knutson led the team in both assists (3) and rebounds (6). Overall, Drake shot just 35% from the field and 26% from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs will look to snap their losing streak when they take the court again on Sunday, Dec. 7, as they welcome Western Illinois (4-1) to Des Moines. Tip-off from the Knapp Center is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
