No. 22 Indiana men’s basketball’s undefeated streak came to an end on Wednesday night up in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Minnesota proved too much for an Indiana team that couldn’t hit free throws, let alone 3-pointers, at an arena that’s seen plenty of teams come through and play a weird 20 minutes before emerging with a hard-fought win. With the Golden Gophers coming off of three losses, all to mid-majors, this one stings in the moment and could really hurt later.

Indiana head coach Darian DeVries, in his first year leading the program, acknowledged that a loss was going to come along eventually during his postgame press conference before pivoting and said the Hoosiers’ response to this first loss will be important.
“Now that you’ve lost one, it’s how do you respond,” DeVries said. “What happens in that locker room and on the practice floor as you get ready for the next game because there’s a lot of really good games we’re going to have this year and every night is going to be a fight just like this.”
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, taking on No. 6 Louisville at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
