Oregon Football 2026 Signing Day: Ducks land 4-Star S Devin Jackson

by

One of the most intriguing prospects in this recruiting class is safety Devin Jackson, for whom the Oregon Ducks have already received a verbal commitment. He is an big defensive back with incredible physicality and feel for the game that could very well transform him into one of the best safeties in college football.

Jackson committed to the Ducks back in July. He made a name for himself down in Orlando, Florida at The First Academy, where he played during his last year of high school. Jackson played all over the field in Florida and he could end up being a jack-of-all-trades defensive back at Oregon if those skills translate well enough.

He will have some competition for playing time in his first season, but it looks like the Ducks may have hit a home run with this pickup.

Oregon Safety Depth Chart

The Ducks’ best safety, Dillon Thieneman, is expected to enter the draft after this season, but the rest of the position room is fairly young. Jackson won’t be handed snaps with all the talent Oregon has at safety, but he is more than capable of earning a contributing role if he’s up to it. We know Dan Lanning isn’t afraid to roll with some young guys on game day, as evidenced by this young roster, so Jackson will definitely get a fair shot.

Oregon 2026 Class Outlook

Going into the Early Signing Period, the Ducks are expected to sign a fourth-straight top-10 class, and there’s a good chance that they ink another top-5 class, challenging for the best signing class in program history yet again under Dan Lanning. While Oregon may not have the size of class that we’ve seen in the past, pushing 30 recruits, it does rank as the best in the nation when it comes to the average rating of recruits. The Ducks focused on quality over quantity this cycle, and they’re bringing in a handful of the best players in the nation as members of the 2026 class.
