LSU football coach Lane Kiffin continues to build his staff in Baton Rouge. The Tigers are expected to hire Elijah Robinson as defensive line coach, according to a Saturday morning report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Robinson, 40, was Syracuse’s defensive coordinator from 2024-25. Prior to Syracuse, Robinson spent five years on staff at Texas A&M. He rose to prominence as an ace recruiter, building elite defensive lines under head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Robinson played under Joe Paterno at Penn State from 2004-07. After his playing career, he got his coaching start at Penn State and was on staff there for five years. Despite being a Jersey native, Robinson is well-connected as a recruiter in the south thanks to his time at Baylor and Texas A&M.
In Robinson’s time at A&M, the Aggies ranked fifth nationally in tackle for loss rate while racking up 73 sacks. As a recruiter, he signed five five-star defensive linemen, including Walter Nolen and LT Overton.
Robinson will mark LSU’s 11th defensive line coach in 11 years. The position has been a revolving door for a decade. Kyle Williams did good work with the group in 2025, but is expected to retire. LSU and Kiffin hope Robinson brings stability.
