Auburn football finished the 2025 regular season with a 5-7 record, which, typically, means that a postseason game is out of the picture. However, with bowl-eligible teams such as Notre Dame and Iowa State declining their invitation, the door opens for teams like Auburn to have the chance to play one final game.
Will Auburn take the chance? According to a report by Brett McMurphy of On3, the Tigers have declined the option to play in a bowl game, thus closing the book on the 2025 season.

Auburn joined a list of teams, including Rutgers, UCF, and Baylor, that were invited to fill vacant slots. However, due to Auburn’s hiring of Alex Golesh, the Tigers do not have a complete coaching staff. Several players, including quarterback Jackson Arnold and wide receiver Perry Thompson, have also shared their intent to enter the transfer portal once the window opens in January, which leaves questions concerning Auburn’s roster on the table.
The SEC will be well-represented this postseason, as five teams from the conference earned spots in the College Football Playoff, while six others will play in bowl games.
