After almost six years in the UFC, Mario Bautista is finally getting his first main event.
A bantamweight bout pitting Bautista against rising Brazilian brawler Vinicius Oliveira is in the works to headline a UFC Fight Night event on Feb. 7 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The news was first reported by AG Fight, and also confirmed to MMA Junkie by Bautista in a recent interview.

Bautista (16-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to former UFC title challenger Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 321 in October. The defeat snapped an impressive eight-fight winning streak that had him closing in on title contention. Prior to the defeat, Bautista had back-to-back wins over former UFC champion Jose Aldo and former Bellator champion Patchy Mix.
On the other hand, Oliveira (23-3 MMA, 4-0 UFC) is looking to notch the biggest win of his career. Oliveira has yet to taste defeat in the UFC. In his last outing, Oliveira defeated Bautista’s teammate Kyler Phillips in a unanimous decision back in July at UFC 318.
