WWE has made a late change to the match card for tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
The tag match featuring AJ Styles & Dragon Lee taking on Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater is no longer being promoted as a WWE World Tag Team Championship bout. While it was originally announced as a standard match, WWE later updated its official website to say the titles would be up for grabs. That change didn’t last long. Now, just hours before the show, the site has been updated again—and the title stipulation has been removed.
“At Saturday Night’s Main Event, World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will battle two of the hottest prospects in NXT, the explosive Je’Von Evans and TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater.”
This is a noticeable change from what the site said just days ago, where it was clearly stated that the Tag Team Titles were on the line.

No statement from WWE. No explanation. Just a quiet rollback that suggests this might’ve either been a miscommunication—or a change in creative direction at the last minute.
It’s a very unexpected move, especially with a sold-out crowd at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. and a solid night of matches ahead.
The main event? John Cena’s retirement match against GUNTHER— the final chapter in a legendary WWE career. Also on deck are matches featuring Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi, Bayley vs. Sol Ruca, and the now non-title tag team bout involving Evans and Slater.
While Cena’s farewell is grabbing headlines, this last-minute match change was definitely unexpected. With or without gold on the line, the crowd will still be watching — but it’s clear WWE is keeping its options flexible until the final bell.
