Los Pampas are eyeing the Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026 season amid mass departures. So far, nine players from the 2025 campaign have signed for foreign clubs. The Buenos Aires team will have a highly different roster for the SRA 2026 season.
The most recent departing player is Ramiro Gurovich. The hooker has signed for Anthem Rugby California to compete in Major League Rugby (MLR) 2026. The North Carolina side will be looking for a successful transfer similar to that of former SRA hooker Martin Vaca for Old Glory DC.
Tight Head props Gael Galván and Tomás Rapetti have both departed Los Pampas. Galván now plays his rugby in France for La Rochelle while Rapetti plays for Top 14 rivals, Toulouse. Both players are shortlisted as longterm prospects for Los Pumas. Rapetti made his Pumas debut in 2025.
The second-row has also been hit hard with two departures. Franco Carrera and Federico Lavanini are both now playing in Europe. Carrera plays for Zebre Parma in the United Rugby Championship (URC) while Lavaninia, the uncapped brother of 91-time capped Puma Tomás Lavanini, plays for Colomiers in France’s Pro D2.
Flanker / N8 Joaquín Moro is also now a former Pampas’ player. Moro signed for the Leicester Tigers during the SRA 2025 season itself. The Leicester Tigers is Moro’s first foreign club and the move came as a two-year-deal for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 seasons. Moro debuted for Los Pumas against Uruguay in 2024 and arrived in England with three caps to his name. The move has been an instant success; Moro has made 10 appearances for the Leicester Tigers and has scored 5 tries.

Three 2025 Pampas backs will not be on the roster in 2026. Scrum-half Eliseo Morales has converted from XV to Sevens and is now playing for Los Pumas 7’s on the World Circuit. Morales is a one-time capped Puma. He earned his only cap against Wales in 2022.
Former Pumitas captain Juan Pablo Castro has completed a move from Argentina to Europe. The 26-year-old signed for Sport Lisboa e Benfica (Rugby Benfica) in Portugal in November. Castro has played for the Argentina XV but is uncapped.
Pumas center Justo Piccardo is also now playing for Montpellier in the French Top 14. Attention was on Piccardo following his debut for Argentina against Ireland in November 2024. Piccardo earned 10 caps in 2025 to now have 11 to his name. He was a try scorer against both Scotland and England in November. He was also a try-scorer in his Top 14 debut for Montpellier against Lyon in October.
