Miss Versatility: The Sensational Talent and Range of Summer McIntosh
Spoiler Alert: In the coming weeks, Swimming World will announce its annual winners of various awards. When it comes time to reveal the World Female Swimmer of the Year, there is no mystery. It will be Summer McIntosh, the Canadian star who enjoyed another spectacular season, highlighted by multiple world records and four gold medals from last summer’s World Championships in Singapore.
McIntosh is an undeniable force in the pool, now training with the University of Texas pro group on the road to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Her versatility is a trademark, and below is a look at McIntosh’s all-time standing in multiple events – Globally, American and Canadian. We offered a similar look at the range of Frenchman Leon Marchand in a recent article.
There is no doubt McIntosh has the potential to move up in several events in the future. For example, her standing in the 200 backstroke is not indicative of her full potential in the event. The question is when and if McIntosh will get the chance to contest some of these events in peak or near-peak form. Regardless, her portfolio is stunning.
