In its final home game of 2025, UConn women’s basketball sprinted past Marquette 89-53 at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford on Wednesday night.

Sarah Strong hit the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season with 22 while chipping in two assists, two steals and two blocks as well. Azzi Fudd finished with 14 points and led the team with three steals while Serah Williams put together a second straight strong performance with 11 points and six rebounds.

Blanca Quiñonez also reached double-figures with 12 points while Kayleigh Heckel tied a career-best with nine turnovers. All 12 Huskies who played scored.

UConn seized control from the opening jump, taking a 4-0 lead before Marquette even managed to get a shot off. The Huskies used runs of 7-0, 8-0 and 5-0 to pull ahead by 15 at the end of the opening quarter. The offense faced little resistance as Fudd put up nine points on 4-4 shooting while Strong piled on 11 points behind four straight makes after missing her first three attempts.

The second quarter wasn’t quite as smooth. UConn committed eight turnovers in the frame and missed five consecutive shots at one point, though the defense picked up the slack. The Huskies allowed just three baskets in the period and none over the final 5:02. UConn ultimately took a 25-point lead into the half.

Marquette scored the first points out of the break, though it quickly went downhill from there for the visitors. The Huskies ripped off a 23-2 run that pushed the lead past 30 and then 40, which made the fourth quarter inconsequential. At the final buzzer, UConn came away with a 36-point win.

Next, the Huskies will travel to Brooklyn to take on Iowa in the Champions Classic on Saturday. Tip-off is set for approximately 1:30 p.m. ET from Barclays Center.
