TaylorMade is expanding the loft options for its R7 Quad Mini driver lineup and, honestly, why not?
With mini drivers continuing to gain traction among golfers looking for something between a traditional driver and fairway wood, it makes perfect sense to offer more options to suit the individual needs of more players.
The most notable addition (to me anyway) is a left-handed version of the 13.5-degree option. For my money, 13.5 degrees hits the sweet spot for versatility. You’re still getting good distance off the tee, but you’ve also got the loft of a strong 3-wood, making it a viable option for fairway play when the situation calls for it.
TaylorMade is also introducing a 15.5-degree option (RH-only). On paper, this one tilts a bit more to the fairway wood side of the equation than the stronger lofts, but there’s definitely a case to be made for the higher-flying, higher-spinning trajectory that comes with the extra loft. For players who prioritize maximum control off the tee along with something closer to traditional 3-wood loft, the 15.5 could hit the sweet spot.
Beyond the new lofts, these new options are identical to what’s been available for most of the season. That means you’re getting the same quad weighting system for fine-tuning ball flight, the same 305cc profile that bridges the gap between driver and fairway wood, and the same Speeder MD shaft that’s stock with TaylorMade’s current mini.
The mini driver category continues to evolve (and you should expect more options in 2026). By adding two more options, TaylorMade is ahead of its competitors in providing enough options to make a mini viable for almost everyone.
