Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua, one of the most unlikely matchups in boxing history, is finally upon us. The heavyweight fight scheduled for eight rounds is taking place Friday, December 19 at Kaseya Center in Miami.
Somehow, some way Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) has willed this unlikeliest of matchups with Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) into existence despite building his name off beating mostly former UFC fighters with no previous boxing experience and aging boxing veterans. Paul’s list of wins over UFC notables includes Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley twice, Anderson Silva, and Mike Perry. He’s also defeated former boxing champions Mike Tyson (November 2024) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (last June), who were 58 and 39, respectively, at the time of those fights. When he fought a notable pure boxer in Tommy Fury, the brother of Tyson Fury, in February 2023, Paul lost by split decision.

Paul, 28, never has competed against anyone close to Joshua’s level – a two-time unified heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist. And that has people wondering about the legitimacy of the fight despite it being sanctioned as professional bout scheduled for eight, 3-minute rounds.
Joshua, who’s coming off a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, will have a massive size advantage over Paul, who typically fights at cruiserweight (200 pounds). Even though the bout is at heavyweight, Joshua is contractually obligated to weigh in no heavier than 245 pounds.

The Paul vs. Joshua card consists of nine fights. Prelims start at 4:45 p.m. ET and stream on Tudum. The Netflix main card begins at 8 p.m. ET.
