Jake Paul explains where he came up short vs. Anthony Joshua

by

Jake Paul lasted nearly six whole rounds with Anthony Joshua on Friday during their boxing clash at Kaseya Center in Miami. That’s five more rounds than some expected.

But if it weren’t for one key flaw, Paul (12-2) believes he could’ve lasted all eight. Ultimately it was his undoing, and Joshua (29-4) defeated him by TKO in Round 6.

“Honestly, I’m not surprised,” Paul said in the ring after the fight. “I just got tired, to be honest. There was just so much handling his weight. I think if I could’ve had better cardio, I could’ve kept it up and kept it up and kept on fighting. But he did amazing. He hits really hard, and I just did my personal best.”

Paul, who immediately theorized he broke his jaw in the bout, later confirmed that he did just that. He shared a close-up video of his teeth displaced and lodged backward into his mouth, covered in blood. But the results, both on his fight record and on his face, will not deter him from pursuing another fight post-recovery.

“Nice little ass whooping from one of the best to ever do it,” Paul said. “I love this sh*t, and I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point.”

As for all of those who suggested the fight was rigged, Paul had a quick response for them on social media post-fight.

“I was paid to lose?” Paul wrote. “Hahaha.”
