Learner Tien showed his qualities at this year's Next Gen ATP Finals.
The American tennis player was the dominant figure of this tournament this year as well, securing a place in the final. Ahead of him is a serious challenge, because Alexander Blockx, a promising tennis player who definitely wants to win, is waiting for him in the final.
Last year, Tien failed to defeat Joao Fonseca in the final of this tournament in Jeddah.
This will be another chance, and we will see if he can achieve a victory this time.
In an interview with the media, the 20-year-old pointed out that playing this tournament is not easy, due to the specific rules of the tournament.
"I’m not sure if it’s the format and it might just be me, but I feel like this week I’ve been struggling to focus in some of these matches."- he said.
Tien went on to reveal that a system like this often breaks his focus, mostly because he's aware that momentum can turn quickly. Adapting to new conditions is always difficult, but tournaments like these serve as serious experience for young tennis players.
“My mind just kind of goes in and out, especially when I get up in the score, and with this format, momentum can change really quick.
I get up, and then I take a few points off and suddenly we’re in a no-Ad point and momentum just shifts so quickly that suddenly you can lose a set off of one game.”
Blockx is aware that he has a serious task ahead of him
His opponent, Blockx, revealed in an interview with the media that he coped well with the challenges of this tournament, being quite successful in adapting to the unique rules.
The duel between the two is already producing an avalanche of reactions, and we will see if the American will triumph this time in the final of the famous tournament.
